JIJO PAPPACHAN THE DOMAINER WHO WAS A NEWBIE BACK IN AUGUST 2015 AND MADE 77K IN 100 DAYS WITH THE CHINESE SURGE ON HAND REGISTE
Jijo was a newbie back in August 2015 and made 77K in 100 days with the Chinese surge on hand registered domains. He reinvested part of the profit and have sold 1000 domains in 9 months since he has started and still holds many of those hand registered domains.
Domaining has changed his and his family’s lives, as he got to move back home from Mumbai, India’s financial capital to be closer to nature and to have a healthy life style, which only became possible because of Domaining.
===> The Interview <===
Where are you right now this very moment and what’s going on? Also where are you from and what’s it like there?
Hi, I am right now in Kerala, India. Kerala is known as the God’s Own Country. I was born here. After my education, about 12 years ago, I left to Bangalore which is India’s IT hub. I worked there for 8 years. After that, I spent 4 years of my life in India’s financial capital, Mumbai. I am back to my native place now and life has come to a full circle. I always loved to be back because I could be closer to nature and have a healthy life style. This only became possible because of domaining.
Domaining is a bit slow now as you all know. I am into Medical Transcription business since many years. I own and operate ScribeDoctor.com
Tell us about your Domaining Journey, how you found out about Domains and what was your first buy?
I always wanted to make some side income. I saw someone’s post about a domain sale in Facebook and that lead me to Namepros.com. First buy was some domains in a crap extension, lol!
When you started making money from selling Domains did you come up with a plan or did you just wing it all the way to your 77k?
I regged my first bulk set of 6n.coms after seeing Ali Zandi’s post in NamePros.com. I was very nervous while using my CC. I utilized 1&1’s 1$ a domain promo. This was in the month of June 2015. I had my first sale on Aug. 15, 2015. It went on and on – never stopped – in sync with the Chinese surge. Whichever niches I regged in bulk would start selling just after the lock was over. Thanks to the Chinese!
What other types of Domains do you like other than Chinese style names?
Other than Chinese style domains, I like the type of domains Mike Mann acquires for $$ and sells for $$$$-$$$$$! I don’t have those yet. I am a cautious player. I believe there is time.
What do you plan to do with the Money you have made? Spend it on yourself or reinvest in Domain Names?
I took out profit enough to buy a land to build a house. I reinvested the rest. I am playing on part of profits. So, it is a no loss business. I still own several hand regs.
When you were buying & selling Chinese style names did you eventually know that it was all going to crash at some stage, is that why you were buying and selling so fast.
I was a newbie. The crash came to me as a surprise. I didn’t expect it so soon. I sold about 550 domains in 100 days to make the 77k. If I had anticipated the crash, I would have made 77k 3 times with my portfolio that time! My wife was working at that time and we had a 3 year old baby. Things became difficult since she was not at home. We had discussed a target for her to be able to quit the job. That was the motivation factor to sell quick.
What do you plan to do now that that part of the market has slowed down?
I still sell them. I sold 1000 domains in 9 months since the journey began. I have many more left than what I have sold. I believe the market will come up. No other plans now.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time and how do you plan to get there?
Keep doing what I do, get into good .coms, some startup ideas etc. I ain’t greedy! Life is good!
Have you any advice for new domainers getting into the marketplace?
You learn by doing mistakes – try to minimize the effect of mistakes.
Join NamePros.com and learn.
Have a Godfather in the niches you invest.
Always try to get the investment back, book profits and divert it to something else, reinvest part of the profit into domains. You will never be in loss.
Buy at right time. Sell at right time.
Stay away from bad extensions.
Handle hypes cautiously.
Do you have a role model in Domaining or do you have one in life? If so tell me more about them?
I like Mike Mann’s way of domaining. I like Drew Rosener; he is an aggressive investor. I like Frank Schilling; he knows to sell at right time. I like Ron Jackson and Michael Cyger. I am a firm believer of Jesus Christ, which is my driving factor.
Where do you find is the best place to sell and how do you promote your names?
Sell everywhere. Forums, marketplaces (both English and Chinese), domaining groups – wherever
you see the $$. I do no promotion.
What Domain that you own and love would you find hard to sell?
I have a bulk of .ch domains (the Swiss extension). I thought they would perhaps be a great extension for China, but it qualifies as the answer for this question.
If you could own any Domain in the world (Apart from the Obvious) no matter the price or who owns it, What would it be and why?
I think it would be JIJO.COM, ha ha!
What was your biggest Sale and how did it all go down?
I have several 5 digit ROI sales. All these are $$$ sales.
Have you learned any lessons from Domaining and if so what?
I made a lot of new friends from the Indian Domain Community called the DNOAi. I went to conferences and enjoyed networking with all of them. Domaining can make you very rich. It is one of those business models where you can play with profits and be in a no-loss situation.
If you met a Huge Domain Investor what would be the first thing you would say to him or her (Not including Hello) Haha.
“Hey, I love the way you work! Can you explain me your business model? How is it going?"
Have you got a Portfolio or Website to share.
I started Domaining for a side income and it is still part time for me. I plan to make a website at DN.DOMAINS sometime later. Until then, I have got my portfolio here – https://goo.gl/yWNvaJ There are alternate pages for niches.
Have you got anything to Promote like an Auction, Book, Business dealings, Promotion, Offers etc.
Nothing other than my portfolio. If anyone wants to buy them, do contact me.
Have you anything else to finish off with?
